Sunday 23 September 2007

Never on a Sunday - elevenses that is.

Over Whitacre Church, photographed through binoculars, backwards - it's really quite big!

Uttoxeter racecourse - the venue.

The 15.50 race, £5 each way on two very tired horses, in no great hurry.

A busy Sunday.

Two Morning Prayer Services to take, Shustoke then Over Whitacre, then a dash to Uttoxeter racecourse to celebrate J & P's 40th wedding anniversary.

Champagne & buffet lunch in The Paddock Room & mad bets on horses chosen for their names or colours ("Thunder pants" for T, Anything in pink for J etc) on all of the 7 races.

Two "each way" bets on each race.

We did pick winners of two races; unfortunately, the 12 rather steadier beasts which were not winners meant that we were gross losers on the day, financially.

Socially, it was great. A brilliant idea.

I know how to place a bet.

I might do this again, when I can afford to - please talk me out of this.

Wow, i understood almost all of that! You don't seem to have had too much free time on your hands since retiring do you? And finally don't you dare go to one of those meetings at school that you're not being paid for!

Meetings, certainly not.
I am delighted that your comprehension skills are improving at last - all of this reading will help.
I have a flight to book.
