Perfect Feet!

The best news ever, after a visit to RMCH yesterday: DK's feet are perfect.......just like the rest of him!

Apart from a wobbly tooth.
(early call for the GB Tooth Fairy)

Can you spot the bird feeders?
Eating us out of house and fat balls, daily.

The most remarkable PW mirror, too big to move anywhere else!

Hanging baskets home again, having spent the weekend in bleack buckets on the window cills in church.

Gree an pleasant after the deluge....

Don't go Dave!

Well, well.
Who really saw that coming?
I do hope that we have made the right choice.
I think that he has been a good PM and should see the country through the next couple of years.
Whoever will replace him?
We begin a new chapter - glad I'm not buying holiday currency today!

In, out, shake it all about....

I have avoided the Polling Station all day, despite an early phone call from AJ to do some last minute electioneering.
I shall vote after dinner, combining it with a walk.
Someone on Radio 4 this morning summed it up, "your heart says "out", your brain says "in".
Still undecided.
I predict 60/40 for "in".

A busy day doing housework -first for a while If I remember correctly.
Just downstairs, or some of it.
Saving upstairs for next week.
Visit from M re factory plans then a trip to the hairdressers.

The rain has just arrived but still bright so may manage the walk.
A late night, I guess.
What will the world look like tomorrow?

Shopping Therapy

Having had to use a kettle on the hob for the last week, I did my research and invested in a new kettle, bought online, I'm a little ashamed to say, but it did arrive the next day and was considerably cheaper than in John Lewis.
Here it is, Which have never seen any to match and it matches the toaster:

Having treated the kitchen and having been sent a £5 voucher by M&S, I moved on to treat myself - tops, couldn't decide which, so bought both!

Onto Boots for a further treat.
So many vouchers that you could spend the week returning to use the one given at the till with each purchase.
£3 off make up, £5 off skin care.
M&S Food hall for the weekend vitals, then home.

And then it rained.....

The yard is under 2/3" of water all over, the rain thundering on the conservatory roof, the thunder just starting.
I have never seen the garden so inundated.
I'm glad I'm at home!

England 1 Wales 1

Blimey, it looked like a Welsh win for a while there I'm listening, not watching, from the conservatory.
Anyway, back to real life:

Happy Birthday Thomas - even more handsome at 9!

We've had a couple of days in Herefordshire, staying  at "The Inn in Bromyard" overnight - lovely 15th century listed building, shame about the French Bistro decor and the "chef"!
We were up early to visit Brightwell's sale, always good fun.
These are some of my buys:

My first ever Clarice Cliff.
Two pieces and a Whitefriars vase, listed with a vintage motoring folder.
I was outbid but did a brilliant deal with the successful buyer, who wanted the car folder.

An unused Sirram picnic hamper, Dad would have loved.

A couple of vintage cases full of old lace....., and a tin trunk.

A doll's cradle, Triang high chair and a Triang doll's fitted wardrobe, with clothes, which I had thought was a bathroom cabinet until I saw the plaque, after buying.
A Tissot watch and an old, gold mounted cameo plus a box of cut glass, bought in error.
Anyone want a trifle bowl?
Delighted with everything, ready to start listing on e bay - beavon09 if you want to view.

Dawn had done the hanging baskets and mangers when we got home.
They look amazing:

The sweet peas are flowering, so a vase of them on the table, smelling wonderful.

The strawberries are striving.

as are the herbs in the pump trough.

Last year's geranium in full bloom.

Go for it Wales!

Awaiting the start of the Wales match, everything crossed!

Yesterday we went to the Quiz Evening for Lea Marston Church, all good fun.
Despite having eight in our six man team, we only came about eighth out of about fifteen.
The scores were pretty close anyway.

Beforehand we had loaded the van with Yard Sale stuff and collected tables, ready to go to the Car Boot Sale at Middleton this morning.
A proper car boot, as far as I know, having only been to three others - lots of cars and small pitches rather than a sea of big white vans and market traders.
We sold from 6.00 - 10.30am then packed up as it was starting to rain, came home, cooked bacon sandwiches and fell asleep.
We did quite well and may add a few more boxes and go to another tomorrow whilst it is all loaded anyway.
Great to off load stuff especially when you exchange it for money and have satisfied customers, pleased with their bargains.
I wouldn't want to do more than one a year!
Dinner at The Bull at Furnace End to celebrate (and no meal planned!)

Whew!

A day spent in the garden, working quite slowly - 27degrees and very humid:

Strawberry planter over the drain, living in hope!

The rockery- chosen because it was in the shade -  freed from bluebells and planted up for the summer - geraniums, black leaved primula and hardy fushias.

Still plenty to do.....

Tomato plants enjoying the sun.

Now there are two raised beds.
The birds are feasting on the compost heap where the first layer was dug out for the bed.

Wednesday 1 June 2016

Wet White Rabbits!

Rain saw out May yesterday and welcomed June, and still raining, but gentle and quite welcome.

Sweet peas are thriving....

Front gate "don't drive over us" flowers.
A cloud of Cow Parsley along the lane

Clematis pretending to be a hydrangea!

Battered rhododendron!

Ready for tomorrow!
